PROM 2010 Resources & Tips

Dress: $100 to $300+
Let's face it: Prom is a formal event & formal usually means expensive!  How about  shopping at a discount or
vintage clothing store?  Try looking online - even
Ebay!  You'll be surprised at what you can find - a beautiful
dress at a great price!

Tuxedo: Rentals $69 to $150+
Guys, we know you want to dress to impress but it does depend on where you rent your tuxedo.  Going to a
tuxedo shop could cost you on average $150 for a rental.  Try Life Cleaners in Yonkers, NY.  Owner Ross Bodin
has rentals starting around $69!  Call 914-968-1525.

Your Accessories: $10+
Maybe you can borrow fancy jewelry, hair clips and a nice evening bag.  If not, try  accessory shops where you
can find gorgeous faux diamonds & much more for much less than the real stuff!

Your Tickets: $75 to $150
Tickets to the Prom can be pricey.  Ask your school to raffle some tickets, arrange a bake sale or a car wash to
help reduce the cost.  If this doesn't work try saving at least $10 a week, for at least 2 months before the
Prom.....that's from about March to May and you'll have at least $80!

Your Ride: $0 to $500+
We know limo's are the classy way to go, but at an average of $85.00
an hour you can be sure you'll have a hefty bill.
Party buses/vans may not be so glamorous but they will
cost you and a bunch of your friends a few hundred less!

The Boutonniere & Corsage: $5 to $15
Roses are high end, carnations are a little less expensive....
flowers don't last forever.  If you're paying over $15 -
you're paying too much!

Hair & Makeup: $0 to $100+
Depending on your style you could easily spend over $100 on your hair.....especially if you choose an up-do.
Ask a friend or find out if your local beauty salon is looking for a "hair model".  Most department store makeup
brands are just as good as the ones you can find at your local drug store.  Save money by shopping online at
Mark. or stop by the department store counters and ask for a complimentary make over.
